I'm moving!

I'm condensing and organizing! My shop LuLusKnitts will be shutting down in the future (not sure exactly when) and moving to KnitandPearlStudio.etsy.com.
In the meantime I'm moving to LuLusKnitts blog to Knitandpearlstudio.wordpress.com

I've decided to revamp the shop with a new name and new products which I'm currently working on. The shop is currently in vacation mode but you can bookmark it for later down the road!
Thanks for bearing with me!

Time for a little catch up!

Hello and welcome back! I have been MIA for QUITE some time now...and I apologize! I've been dabbling in a multitude of things over the past few months. Here's a short list of what I've been up to:
1. Hand dying yarn
2. Acquired a top whorl drop spindle that I'm still too afraid to do anything with...(more on that another day)
3. Bought lots of pattern books for inspiration (highly recommend Louisa Harding's books)
4. Bought a mannequin head...her name is Greta and you can see her in some of my etsy photos
5. Depleted most of my yarn stash
6. Refilled my yarn stash
7. Semi learned how to make thrum mittens (pictures below)

So there's a mini wrap up of what I've been doing, not to mention school & my photography. On to thrummed mittens. A few posts back I mentioned that I purchased some amazing roving & yarn from Freckle Face Fibers and was planning on making some thrum mittens. This was almost one year ago. Quite frankly the idea of making something so shapely scared me to death so away went the pretty yarn and roving...I decided to face my fears and attack the mittens head on. I gathered a handful of patterns, a pair of size 6 needles and ventured on the journey.

I got off to a rocky start, having to scrap the first attempt and redo it but I think it turned out okay. The thrumming went well, the hardest part was the thumb. I kind of did what I thought best with the thumb and it looks...well I don't have words. It's not that it's horrible but it's definitely not a perfect thumb. It works though. Here are some in progress pictures, I promise to soon take some of the completed mittens!!

I didn't get lost I promise

Hi All!
Sorry I've been MIA for the past few weeks. My life has somewhat turned upside down and I seem to have more on my plate right now that I can manage.
I wanted to stop by on this day to wish everyone well! Today is the day of hope :)

I'll be around soon...I'm working on a hat so hopefully I can finish it soon!

Hat with No Name

To be honest this did not start out as a hat. In fact, it was supposed to be a neckwarmer that magically became a hat. I was almost finished with it when I realized that it wasn't going to work as a neckwarmer. It was just rather silly...so it turned into a hat :)
Here it is!

Forget Me Not Scarf

Forget-me-nots are adorable little flowers sometimes overlooked. My newest scarf is named after them because of the subdued color scheme within it and should by no means be overlooked either! I did a simple stockinette stitch and made it about 5 feet long. I've been working on it forever which drives me nuts because it shouldn't have taken me so long but I've been busy...
Here's a pic:
In other news my picture of the beret I knit recently was requested to be used as the photo for a pattern on Ravelry here---> http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/soft-beret
This was very exciting to me because it was my first had and I was very proud of what I accomplished...my friend also loves it too!
I've got two new ideas to work on...I'll keep you up to date on their progress! They are going to be neckwarmers (these seem to go pretty quick and I'm low on inventory in my Etsy shop). One will be with a blend of colinette yarn and a fun patons yarn while the other will be a melon color and lime color from debbie bliss.

Pleasantly Purple

I'm finally free of the deadlines from the semester. I had my final class tonight and was able to wrap up some projects as well! I also have a new project on the horizon; thrum mittens! I purchased this yarn and roving from Freckle FaceFibers: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5227283 She was a joy to order from and even helped me make my special roving/wool combo! Here's a pic of what I'll be using:

On to my project I just wrapped up. It was a beret/scarf combo for a friend of mine. I used Sheep Shop Number 1 yarn in G192 which is called Lilac. It knits up beautifully with its color variations but it also would be perfect for felting too! Here's a pic:

I also am trying to think up some new projects to add to my etsy site since I sold two more items last night. My inventory is really low because I just haven't had the time nor the energy to work on other projects. Now that the semester is over I'm hoping to complete two items by this weekend and get them posted.
I'm also looking for a thrum mitten pattern as well as some different hat or headband patterns. Would love it if anyone is willing to share! Phew...that was a lot of new info! I'm off to start some new projects!

To make time you have to have time...and I don't

So I haven't been able to knit anything new for oh let's see...4 weeks or so at least. I've been working on a hat/scarf set for a friend which I'm almost finished with and then I can return to knitting whatever I please! Also school & work have been overloading me so I really haven't had the time nor the energy to devote to knitting...Hopefully the holiday season will be good to be and I'll be able to make some time and get some knitting done.
By the way I sold two more items. That leaves me with only three left in my etsy store...this makes me laugh. I'm supposed to keep it well stocked but like I said; to make time you have to have time and I definitely don't right now.
Well off to finish some projects. The semester ends tomorrow so I'll be free to do as I please!
